How rates are set
Adult family homes in Washington generally charge a single monthly rate that covers housing, meals, and care, rather than base rent plus a menu of fees. Silvergate works the same way. The rate depends on how much help a person needs, so we confirm it after our registered nurse completes an in-person assessment.
In 2026, private-pay rates for adult family homes in Pierce County generally range from about $6,000 to $10,000 per month depending on care level and room type, with memory care at the higher end. Call either home for a current quote for your situation.

What the monthly rate includes
- A bedroom the resident may furnish with their own belongings, with all utilities
- Three home-cooked meals a day and snacks, including special and texture-modified diets
- 24-hour supervision and help with bathing, dressing, toileting, walking, and transfers
- Medication management and administration
- Laundry and housekeeping
- Activities matched to each resident's interests
- Care coordination with physicians, home health, and hospice by our RN owner
Usually billed separately
- Nurse delegation fees for tasks such as insulin injections (billed by the contracted RN)
- Incontinence supplies and personal care items
- Prescriptions, medical equipment not covered by insurance, and outside appointments
We put every charge in writing before move-in. Washington requires a written list of charges, and you will sign a copy.

Our policy is different at each home, and we state it plainly.
Silvergate Adult Family Home

Yes, Silvergate Adult Family Home in Bonney Lake accepts Medicaid. If you start by paying privately, we ask you to pay privately for two years before switching to Medicaid, and to tell us in writing 90 days before you switch so the paperwork is ready and payments do not stop. Silvergate at Buckley
Buckley, Washington
Silvergate at Buckley does not accept Medicaid at this time. Residents pay privately or with long-term care insurance. Call (360) 761-7123 to ask about future options.
Medicaid long-term care in Washington is called Apple Health and is usually accessed through the COPES waiver after a DSHS CARE assessment. Eligibility in 2026 is roughly $2,000 in countable assets and about $2,900 per month in income for a single person. A DSHS Home and Community Services case manager can tell you whether your parent qualifies.

Long-term care insurance
Most long-term care policies cover adult family home care. We provide the documentation your insurer needs, including the negotiated care plan and monthly invoices.
VA Aid and Attendance
Wartime veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities may qualify for the VA Aid and Attendance pension, which in 2026 pays up to about $2,400 per month for a single veteran. A Veterans Service Officer can help with the application at no charge.
WA Cares Fund
Washington's public long-term care benefit began paying in 2026 and provides up to $36,500 over a lifetime to eligible workers who paid into the program. It can be applied toward adult family home care.
Private funds and family contributions
Many families combine a parent's income and savings with contributions from adult children, or use the proceeds of a home sale. We are glad to talk through the timeline with you, including what happens if private funds run out.
